Fall 2007 Trend: Bands and Snakeskin

I had quite an enjoyable afternoon perusing the Fall Lucky Shoe Guide which introduced the expected shoe trends for F/W 2007. I particularly was struck by the pumps and flats with a thick band across the top. I love the updated edginess this adds to a sweet ballet flat or a round toe pump.

I found these fabu kicks at Cusp and voila I have one trend down...several more to go. These are ridiculously comfortable and I adore the faux snakeskin print. Plus they were pretty inexpensive at just $105!

Fall 2007 Trend: Cap Toe Platforms

Another fabu fall shoe trend dancing across all the fall mags is the bi-colored cap toe platforms. They pull together a wide slouchy trouser for day and sharpen a skinny pencil skirt for night.

Fall 2007 Trends: Updated Messenger Bags

One of my absolute favorite trends for the season is an updated take on the messenger bag. Worn across the shoulders like a traditional messenger, these updated chic versions use supple leather and elegant designs and really are a refreshing change to the shoulder breaking totes we have been slagging along the past few seasons. See a few of my personal favorites below from Shopbop.

Trend Watch F/W 2007: Shoe Booties

First debuting SS07, I was intially hesitant about shoe booties (although I love the name) especially those with an Oxfordish quality. Yet after seeing them storming across runways I have come to enjoy this trend, especially when paired with chunky short knits and opaque tights. Here are some looks from the cheap to the chic.

True Turn for the Worse Skinny Pants

Rbils was out and about in (gasp) wide leg jeans over the weekend. The queen of skinny jeans may have jumped ship.

Fall Collection 2007: Patently Perfect

I have been a patent girl since my tiny black patent Mary Janes that my mom used to dress me in when I was little. Since then my patent purchases have taken a slightly edgier feel and are rarely paired with ruffly white ankle socks. Much like this entire year, the patent trend will be big in Fall 2007. If only I could give in to my long lasting addiction.

Fall Collections 2007: Shades of Grey

I cannot help but get excited by all of the new fall collections arriving in stores. Even though it is nearing 90 degrees here in Chicago, I am online shopping for knee high boots, sweater dresses, and heavy duty arm candy all in shades of grey. Grey is going to be huge this fall, and when is not for fall but that is besides the point. It is a universally flattering color with shades ranging from Heather to Charcoal. I tend to lean more towards the deeper greys that almost veer near black.

Fabu vs. Faboo Looks of the Day

Two young and normally chic celebs go shopping in very different styles.
SMG looks stunning in her 3/4 sleeve mini dress. The nude pups really elongate her leg.
ScarJo dresses the part of a middle aged soccer mom; everything from the brown braided belt to the black shoes resembling aqua socks are NOT okay. Bad Scarlett.

Mandy Moore's Hot Look

This girl looks fierce!
I love how Mandy rocks the neon green with the detail studded bust. So hot.

It's Raining Chicness

Boo and hiss. It has been raining in the way it only can at 95 degrees in Chicago the past two afternoons. I am so sick of wearing my ratty old North Face. I want this hot cropped jacket from Phillip Lim.

Trend Watch: Yellow!

I had to post this dandelion mini that Penelope Cruz wore over the weekend. The dress is so fabu I cannot get enough of it.

Trend Watch: White Out

I used to shy away from wearing white, as I felt as though it washed me out. Since then I have really found that nothing compliments a fresh summer glow than a crisp shade of white. I was thrilled to see gauzy whites and creams across the fashion mags for this season. See some of my favorite looks below. Best paired with a bright neon sandal or a metallic flat to really contrast the blank palette you have created.

Fabu vs. Faboo Looks of the Day

Two very different takes on the color of the season.

Rihanna rocks the look with an asymmetrical button up in a sunshine hue. Love the hair, love the shoes, love it all.

Paris, oh Paris. While she has never been a fashion plate (who says money can buy class), she also needs to realize that she is not at the Kentucky Derby and lose the hat. (Is it cruel to make fun of someone who is in jail??)

Beach Bag Steal

Love this bag for the beachy weather that has arrived in the windy city. I found it while perusing Target this afternoon. It is beyond oversized and can easily fit a large beach blanket, snacks, cover ups, sunscreen, books, and everything else you will need on a Saturday morning beach trip.

Seagrass Tote - $12.99

Ruffles Are Not Just for Pirates

I love the ruffle blouse look for summer work and play. I thought this post was fitting seeing as Pirates of the Carribean came out this weekend and we all know that pirates love to wear their ruffles. LiLo rocks it perfectly as she seeks paparazzi attention at the Ivy.
