Only in Chicago would 50 Degrees Feel like Summer

I woke up this morning with a smile across my face. Seriously, this is a rare
occurrence as I normally cannot even summon a smirk until I have an extra hot soy latte from Starbucks (how cliche??).

Yet there is nothing like a weather report hinting at the end of a windy and cold winter to jump start a girl's day. Despite the fact that the sun is shining (I almost forgot what sun was), the air still has a chill to it and it will barely reach 60 degrees today. But that has not stopped me from donning the most summery outfit I could find after sifting through my storage closet.

Wearing today: Blue gray jersey trapeze dress (Nordstroms) with a cropped beige pea coat (Urban Outfitters) and light gold flats (SM)

Sure...there is a slight chance of a fripple or two (he he) but in my book it is well worth it.

If by Christian Louboutin, you mean Oh Deer.

When I graduated from college the only gift I asked for was a pair of Christian Louboutins. Surprisingly enough (or not so much), I received a pair of Nine West low square toed pumps from my parents as they claimed these horrors to be more realistic for a new grad and more affordable for the doting parents.

Fair enough. Yet I never cease to decree that while the aforementioned witch shoes are gathering dust in my closet (still in the box I may add), those CL's would have been put to good use. Sadly, due to my meager salary (sigh), I cannot afford to buy Louboutins on my own.

Oh Deer! Shoes to the rescue. These knock offs are so true to Louboutins that they even have the signature red sole on each and every pair. And they are much nicer to the bank accounts.

Is Nordstroms Reading the Blog?

Almost as soon as I had finished polishing up the wit in my previous post. (Wink, wink) I received the email for the Nordstroms Private Online Sale. Much to my chagrin (sarcasm), I found several more temptations to drain my ever disappearing cash flow.

Saks, Neimans...Emails? Oh My!

If you are like me, you have a love/hate relationship with all of the shopping newsletter updates that you sign up for. Aside from my true love, Shop It to Me, I have checked far too many boxes requesting more information at the end of each online shopping spree check out. To date, I receive about 20 emails and I have to say the majority of them are fairly disappointing. But still every once in a while you receive one that has the glorious word "Sale" shrieking from the headlines. And let me tell you...those never go in the Trash. Please see above for just such an example...and below for what I have been eyeing since I found it in my Inbox.

Giuseppe Zanotti
Leather Fold-Over Boots

Feeling Eeyore-ish?

Have you ever felt glum when you wake up in the morning at the thought of trying to put together a semi-cute outfit?

Silly question. I know. But I spent most of the day today feeling a bit like Eeyore. The cutely depressed donkey from Winnie the Pooh. For some reason this popped into my head as I pulled on my Citizen jeans half-heartedly and slumped on my Club Monaco pin stripe blazer. How simply blah?

For a minute, I was mournful that I failed to have the incredibly sloppily chic couture of the Lindsay Lohan and Mary Kate Olsen's of the world. Shudder at the thought...the Olsen twins?? I can't deny that those skinny twits know how to dress.

So I did what any reasonable and economically conscious girl would do...I went to Forever 21 and bought 3 dresses and 2 tops for $75 that I will most likely wear once but it satisfied my Eeyorish feelings for the mean time.

Shop It to Me

Ah. This is possibly the most fabulous find I have had to date. This website is every online shopper's best friend. You sign up online and choose all your preferences...clothing, shoes, handbags, sizes, and designers. Then everyday this tool sends you a personalized email containing everything on sale from your preference list over the web. I highly suggest that everyone signs up. After all, there is nothing better than a daily dose of online sale alerts to get a girl going in the morning!
